Imani's take

Eight hundred seats and wood paneling — this is a play house, built for faces. There is no bad-distance seat in here, so spend for center over close. It opens onto Shubert Alley, which is the best pre-show people-watching in the district.

Where to Sit at the Booth Theatre

Levels, bottom to top: Orchestra → Balcony. A intimate house. Boxes: 12 box seats.

Seat count by section — 778 fixed seats as broken down in our source; the 800 above is the house's listed capacity, which can include standing room and production-specific seating.
  • Orchestra 514 (66%)
  • Balcony 252 (32%)
  • Boxes 12 (2%)

One balcony over the orchestra

Two levels only, so the balcony is the whole upper house — its front rows are some of the best seats in the building for anything with choreography or a big set. The last rows of the orchestra sit under the overhang — fine for a play, a little boxed-in for a big musical.

Where the seats actually are

The largest block is the orchestra, with 514 seats.

About those boxes

Box seats look glamorous and sit at a hard angle to the stage — expect to lose part of the far side of the set. Buy them to be seen, not to see.

Our rule of thumb

At 800 seats this is one of Broadway’s small rooms, so there is no truly distant seat. Spend on center over close, and don’t be afraid of the cheapest tier.
