Longacre Theatre

  • 1,077 seats
  • 3levels
  • Proscenium stage
  • Opened 1913

Imani's take

Three levels on just over a thousand seats, so the second balcony is steep but close. The first balcony (304 seats) is the best value in the building.

Where to Sit at the Longacre Theatre

Levels, bottom to top: Orchestra → First balcony → Second balcony. A mid-size house. Boxes: box seats at balcony level.

Seat count by section
  • Orchestra 508 (47%)
  • First balcony 304 (28%)
  • Second balcony 249 (23%)
  • Boxes 16 (1%)

Three levels in a compact house

1,077 seats over three levels means the room is built vertically, not deep. The top tier is steep, but it is closer to the stage than its altitude suggests — a better deal here than in the big musical houses.

Where the seats actually are

The largest block is the orchestra, with 508 seats.

About those boxes

Box seats look glamorous and sit at a hard angle to the stage — expect to lose part of the far side of the set. Buy them to be seen, not to see.

Our rule of thumb

For a play, get close and center. For a spectacle, get high and center. Partial-view seats are discounted for a reason — check the seat map before you buy.

Good to Know

  • Named for Longacre Square, the old name of Times Square
  • A 2008 renovation removed 18 seats to improve accessibility and sightlines

Getting There
