Lunt-Fontanne Theatre

Formerly the Globe Theatre

  • 1,505 seats
  • 2levels
  • Proscenium stage
  • Opened 1910

Imani's take

A 1910 shell with a 1958 interior: two levels, about 1,500 seats, built for musicals. It's a half-block from the Times Square crossroads, so it's the easiest house to find and the hardest sidewalk to walk at 7:45.

— Imani Carter, spectacle editor

Where to Sit at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre

Levels, bottom to top: Orchestra → Upper level. A large house.

One upper level over the orchestra

Two levels only, so the upper level is the whole upper house — its front rows are some of the best seats in the building for anything with choreography or a big set. The last rows of the orchestra sit under the overhang — fine for a play, a little boxed-in for a big musical.

Our rule of thumb

For a play, get close and center. For a spectacle, get high and center. Partial-view seats are discounted for a reason — check the seat map before you buy.

Good to Know

  • Originally the Globe, with a retractable roof section that is no longer used
  • Current two-level interior dates to 1958
