Hudson Theatre

  • 970 seats
  • 3levels
  • Proscenium stage
  • Opened 1903

Imani's take

1903, Beaux-Arts, three levels stacked tight over a 970-seat room. The top balcony is high but the house is narrow enough that it doesn't feel like the moon. East of Seventh, so it's a short walk from Bryant Park.

— Imani Carter, spectacle editor

Where to Sit at the Hudson Theatre

Levels, bottom to top: Orchestra → First balcony → Second balcony. A mid-size house. Boxes: boxes at the first-balcony level.

Three levels in a compact house

970 seats over three levels means the room is built vertically, not deep. The top tier is steep, but it is closer to the stage than its altitude suggests — a better deal here than in the big musical houses.

About those boxes

Box seats look glamorous and sit at a hard angle to the stage — expect to lose part of the far side of the set. Buy them to be seen, not to see.

Our rule of thumb

For a play, get close and center. For a spectacle, get high and center. Partial-view seats are discounted for a reason — check the seat map before you buy.
